There are four different ways to explore the Trading Consequences database of commodities:
- Run a Commodity Search. More information on this search here.
- Run a Location Search. More information on this search here.
- Explore the location tag cloud visualization of commodities trades. Please note that this should be viewed using the Chrome browser. More information on how to use this visualization can be found here.
- Explore the interlinked visualization. Please note that this should be viewed using the Chrome browser. More information on how to use this visualization can be found here.
The project also has a GitHub presence where you can access some of the open source code associated with the project.
Please be aware that all of these tools are based on a database created through a lexicon of terms derived through automatic data mining processes. The database can be downloaded from here. There may be some errors in the data and we therefore recommend that you use the searches to the database and visualisations as a tool to compliment other historical research methods. You can read more about the possibilities and limitations of this data and these research approaches in the project blog.
